A first pack in newborn size plus a pack in the next size up is enough to start. Newborns can use many nappies a day; we will not freeze a fake average count. Many babies skip the tiniest size. Do not gift a jumbo mixed box as the only present. Buy more of the size that actually fits. Disposable is the lower-friction start for most UK homes. Cloth is a wash, dry and fit system — worth it if you want that work, not as a surprise. Hybrid is still a system. Do not fight an ideology in the first fortnight. If you choose cloth later, keep a disposable pack for nights out and grandparents.
