Buy a travel cot when you will stay over enough to unpack it, or when grandparents need a frame. Skip buying one as a cheap everyday cot — it is a fold-away, not a furniture win. It can be, if the mattress is firm, snug and used as specified, and it stands in your room. It is a poor dodge if a proper cot would have fitted. Extra padding sold as cosy is how a clear cot fails.
