This is manufacturer-style starting guidance, not a Lullaby Trust table and not a medical device. Check the baby’s
chest. Read [sleeping bags and TOG](/guides/baby-sleeping-bags-tog-uk).

Verdict

Use this when you know the room temperature. It suggests a starting TOG and layer, then you check the baby’s chest. It will not override The Lullaby Trust: keep the cot clear, sleep on the back, and avoid overheating. Skip it if you cannot measure the room — buy a thermometer first.

Not for: Not for premature babies still under hospital overlay advice, and not a substitute for the sleeping-bag maker’s own chart.
        Room temperature (°C) Suggest TOG

## What TOG should you start with at each room temperature?

Use the table if the form does not run. It is a starting map: cooler rooms, higher TOG; warmer rooms, fewer layers.
The Lullaby Trust still wants about 16–20°C and no overheating. If the neck is sweaty, remove a layer immediately
rather than waiting for a chart to agree.
