Do you need a Tommee Tippee nappy bin?
No. You need somewhere a dirty nappy can sit without the whole house smelling. A lidded kitchen bin, a nappy sack, or a dedicated cassettes bin all do that. Twist and Click is a high-revenue Amazon product because refills never stop. Count cassette cost, not the starter price, before you call it essential.
Grips-style Amazon UK revenue lists put Twist and Click near the top of baby spend in January 2026. That is money, not a need. Our skip-list exists so a cassette system does not jump the car seat.
Nappy sacks or a cassette bin — which first?
Sacks first: cheap, travel, changing-bag. A cassette bin if you hate emptying and will pay for that. Scented “fresh” film is marketing next to newborn skin — prefer unscented. Compostable sacks (Naty-style) are a preference, not a hygiene upgrade we have tested.
| Kit | Choose if | Skip if |
|---|---|---|
| Fragrance-free sacks | Changing bag and a normal bin | You wanted a furniture object |
| Lidded pedal bin | You empty daily and live near an outdoor bin | You wanted hands-free wrap |
| Twist and Click / similar | You will budget for cassettes | The starter price was the only number you looked at |
| Scented nappy genie | Almost never as a need | Fragrance bothers you or the baby |
Which nappy bins and sacks are worth comparing?
Compare a Twist and Click starter and fragrance-free sacks — not a ranked best bin. We have not smell-tested them. Skip this if a pedal bin already works. Awin hops can sit beside Amazon when those URLs are live. Cassette cost matters more than the starter price.

Tommee Tippee Twist and Click nappy bin
A high-revenue Amazon UK nappy-disposal listing. Compare cassette cost over a year, not the starter price. A lidded pedal bin plus nappy sacks does the same job for many homes.
Skip if: You will not buy refills, or a simple bin already works.

Fragrance-free nappy sacks
Naty-style compostable sacks and supermarket rolls are everyday Amazon sellers. Useful in a changing bag. Skip scented “fresh linen” sacks next to newborn skin.
Skip if: You already tie nappies in a wet bag.
Should a nappy bin go in the hospital bag?
No. Wards have disposal already. Pack nappies and wipes, not furniture. A roll of unscented sacks can live in the changing bag later, once you are home. See the hospital bag guide for the actual packing list, not a nursery catalogue.
Nappies themselves are still the consumable that matters: nappies and wipes.
When is a nappy bin a bad gift?
When they have not chosen a system, or their hallway has no space for another bin. Cassettes lock them into a brand they may hate. A voucher or a box of unscented sacks is easier to return. Skip a scented nursery-perfume bin.
If you want to give a useful consumable, unscented wipes restock faster than a bin.
Does a nappy bin replace washing your hands?
No. It is furniture, not hygiene. Wash hands after every change. A bin that is never emptied is worse than a sack in an outdoor bin. We will not claim antibacterial film as a health outcome we have sourced on this page.
Keep the changing mat wipe-clean. Raised changing tables are still optional — see newborn essentials.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a nappy disposal system?
- No. A lidded bin and unscented sacks are enough for many UK homes. Buy a cassette bin only if you will pay for refills and you hate emptying.
- Are Twist and Click refills expensive?
- They add up. We will not invent a yearly figure. Check cassette pack prices before you call the starter a bargain.
- Are scented nappy sacks safe?
- Fragrance is a comfort for some adults and an irritant for some babies. Prefer unscented next to newborn skin. We have not lab-tested scents.
